• No article with "ser": Unlike English, Spanish typically omits the indefinite article when stating your profession with the verb ser. Say "Soy médico" (I'm a doctor), not "Soy un médico." However, if you add an adjective, include the article: "Soy un buen médico" (I'm a good doctor).
• Gender agreement: Most professions have masculine and feminine forms. Words ending in -o change to -a for feminine (médico → médica). Words ending in -or add -a (profesor → profesora). Words ending in -ista stay the same; only the article changes (el/la periodista).
