The dialogue uses polite service language that works well for learners; in Brazil you may hear garçom for waiter, while in Portugal you may also hear empregado de mesa.

Cliente	Na varanda, se for possível.	On the patio, if possible.	Se for possível softens the request.
Garçom	Perfeito. Podem sentar aqui. Já trago o cardápio.	Perfect. You can sit here. I will bring the menu right away.	Cardápio is common in Brazil; ementa is common in Portugal.
Garçom	Gostariam de pedir alguma coisa para beber?	Would you like to order something to drink?	Gostariam de... is a polished service phrase.
Cliente	Sim, uma água com gás e uma taça de vinho branco, por favor.	Yes, a sparkling water and a glass of white wine, please.	Com gás means sparkling; sem gás means still.
Garçom	Claro. Já sabem o que vão querer para comer?	Of course. Do you already know what you would like to eat?	A common question after drinks are ordered.
Cliente	Ainda não. O que você recomenda hoje?	Not yet. What do you recommend today?	Useful when you want advice from the server.
Garçom	O prato do dia é peixe grelhado com legumes, e também temos moqueca.	The daily special is grilled fish with vegetables, and we also have moqueca.	Prato do dia means the daily special.
Cliente	Parece ótimo. A moqueca leva leite de coco?	That sounds great. Does the moqueca have coconut milk?	Leva is often used to ask what ingredients a dish contains.
Garçom	Leva, sim. Se preferir, posso perguntar se a cozinha consegue fazer sem.	Yes, it does. If you prefer, I can ask whether the kitchen can make it without it.	The server offers to check with the kitchen instead of guessing.
Cliente	Nesse caso, vou querer o peixe grelhado, por favor.	In that case, I will have the grilled fish, please.	Vou querer... is a natural way to order politely.
Garçom	Muito bem. Mais alguma coisa?	Very good. Anything else?	A routine closing question after the order.
Cliente	Por enquanto é só, obrigado.	That is all for now, thank you.	Por enquanto leaves room to order more later.
Cliente	Com licença, poderia trazer a conta quando puder?	Excuse me, could you bring the bill when you can?	A polite way to ask for the bill without sounding abrupt.

Grammar in Context

The natural dialogue uses polite restaurant questions with third-person verb forms: Prefere ficar dentro?, Gostariam de pedir...?, and Poderia trazer a conta?. In much of Brazil, these forms fit naturally with você; in Portugal, similar third-person forms can also sound polite in service situations.

For ordering, Portuguese often uses vou querer, literally I am going to want: Vou querer o peixe grelhado. It is much more natural at the table than a direct-sounding Eu quero....

To ask about ingredients, use levar: A moqueca leva leite de coco? In food contexts, leva means has or contains.
